With thirteen years of dance experience she has honed her skills through Grassland Dance Academy's internship program during Spring 2014 and is proud to be the Assistant Director for GDA. Katie has traveled to New York City where she trained with some of the cast members from the Tony Award winning Broadway show Billy Elliot. Including some of the original cast. She has performed in Walt Disney World and was a Junior Member of the Southern Association of Dance Masters. She has worked with various well-known choreographers and has participated in multiple dance conventions over the years. Katie was recently a back up dancer for an upcoming A&E television show and has received her associates degree in Commercial Entertainment through Columbia State Community College . She trained for thirteen years in Franklin through competitive dance, studio ballet company, conventions, dance team, and master classes with various well known choreographers. She continued her education at the University of Memphis where she graduated with a Bachelors in Education. She went on to be an elementary teacher for four years. Sarah is passionate about educating and uplifting students in the classroom or at the dance studio. Sarah was a member of the Memphis Pom College Dance Team where she competed in UDA college nationals and performed on game days and appearances in the community. Sarah has been teaching and choreographing since 2019 for studios and local dance teams. She has performed with many artists and as of recently in a local music video. She grew up dancing in Atlanta, GA at Rhythm Dance Center and went on to major in dance at ASU. She teaches and coaches for all age groups, exploring her passion of the creative process and expressing the deeper meanings in life through movement. She has crafted and produced multiple full length productions, and won various regional and national awards for her choreography. Her work has been performed at the Schermerhorn, on competition stages, in music videos, in NYC and Chicago, at 1 Hotel, on a hill at dawn, and in the depths of a riverbed. She competed in the USA Nationals for five years, trained twice at the Olympic Training Center, and earned numerous awards nationally and internationally. She holds a degree in Fashion Design with an Art minor from Texas Christian University. As a choreographer, Sandy has worked on music videos, Worship Jamz TV commercials, the Dove Awards show, and LifeWay's VBS programs for over 12 years. She has also choreographed for church conferences and toured performing rhythmic gymnastics with singer Nicole C. Mullen. A certified Tae Bo® instructor since 2008, Sandy has taught alongside Shellie Blanks Cimarosti for nearly a decade and featured in several Billy Blanks fitness videos. She trained for 14 years at Centerstage Dance Academy in East Providence, Rhode Island, and competed all over the Northeast for a decade. Katie was a national competitor in the United States Tournament of Dance for Miss Dance of the United States in 2018. Beyond her love for strong lyrical and jazz technique, her specialty has always been storytelling in performance, which is exactly what she hopes to bring to the table at GDA. After college, Katie spent a couple of years working in the Nashville music business. She now trains weekly at Millennium Dance Complex Nashville, dances professionally in the area, and works as a choreographer and movement coach for local artists. She enjoys teaching at studios all around Nashville as well as for her alma mater whenever she returns home to RI. While Heather may have grown up dancing herself, she will be the first to admit her two daughters have acquired all the dance skills in the family. What she lacks in rhythm and stage presence, she makes up for in organizational prowess and front desk skills. Heather graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in public relations.
